Drunken dad fires gun at teen daughter's birthday (Apple Valley, California)

Seems that dad JOHN ROBERT NOTTLE had consumed one too many adult beverages, started a fight on his daughter's birthday no less, then started shooting off a .45 calibur handgun both inside and outside the house. Dad is a convicted felon (surprise!) and had a small arsenal in the home. Sounds to me like Pops himself is a loose cannon. It's a miracle nobody got hurt.

Investigators say a drunken felon fired bullets into the ceiling during his teenage daughter's birthday party, sending Mojave Desert house guests scampering for cover.

San Bernardino County sheriff's Deputy Bryan Faylor says 43-year-old John Robert Nottle had been quarreling with his wife during Sunday's birthday party when he suddenly pulled a .45-caliber handgun and began firing in the house and outside.

Frightened residents fled the Apple Valley home and called 911.

Deputies found a homemade pipe bomb, several guns, throwing stars, a cane sword and double-edged knives. Faylor says in a news release that Nottle was arrested and booked for investigation of possessing an explosive device, shooting at an inhabited swelling and more.
