Stoner dad says 1-year-old son "possessed by devil," so he threw him into a door (Albuquerque, New Mexico)

Dad ROBERT GABALDON--who is either psychotic, addicted to some serious drugs, or both--has been charged with child abuse for throwing his 1-year-old son into a door. Daddy claimed the boy was "possessed by the devil."

Come again? Who's the freaking devil here?

Seems Dad had been functioning as the primary caretaker, and perhaps was even custodial as we are told that "the mother is unable to care for her son." What that means isn't made clear. Plus, that's the explanation given by Daddy's enabler mother who says, and I quote, "when her boy isn't high on drugs, he's a good father." What the hell does that mean? People are such idiots. Good fathers (and mothers) don't use drugs, especially drugs that apparently cause you to hallucinate and imagine that the devil is in your baby. And this guy had three outstanding warrants (for what is not specified). Good dad, my foot.

And notice how "promptly" New Mexico authorities dealt with this father's abuse and how long it took before they finally arrested him. OVER A MONTH.

Police say an Albuquerque man who was high on drugs allegedly hurt his one-year-old boy, saying the boy was possessed by the devil.

Robert Gabaldon is charged with abuse of a child for allegedly throwing his one-year-old son into a door in February, saying the boy had the devil in him. The boy is now in the care of his grandmother, Nancy Jacquay.

"I noticed my son was high at the time, and he was talking through hallucinations," said Jaquay, the primary caretaker of her now two-year-old grandson.

According to a criminal complaint, Robert Gabaldon wrestled his son away from the family. Then, Gabaldon allegedly threw the baby at a neighbor's door, cutting the boy's face, screaming to call paramedics because "the devil is in the baby and it's going to die."

Gabaldon was arrested that day for three outstanding warrants, but wasn't arrested until Sunday for the alleged abuse.

When asked why APD did not arrest Gabaldon for abuse that day, Officer Nadine Hamby explained, "I believe that the officer was under some kind of impression that he thought Mr. Gabaldon-- the offender-- would be in custody and would stay in custody until he could finish his investigation, which means write up the warrant," Hamby said.

But that's not what happened.

Gabaldon bonded out in just 16 days. It took 31 days from the alleged incident for the investigating officer to write up a warrant for Gabaldon's arrest. And, until he was arrested again this weekend, there was nothing stopping him from seeing his son.

Gabaldon's mother, Nancy Jaquay, says when her son isn't high on drugs; he's a good father. She says when he is high, she hardly recognizes him. As for the boy's birth mom, Jaquay says she is unable to care for her son, that's why he lives with his grandmother.

Now, Jaquay hopes this time her son will stay in jail and get the help he needs. "I would like him to get into some rehabilitation. And I'm not asking for 30 days. I'm asking for a year, year and a half-- that's how much help he needs," said Jaquay.
