Dad ANTHONY LINFIELD faces manslaughter and criminal negligence charges in the death of his 23-month-old daughter, who ingested and overdosed on methadone. Seems there have been a lot of cases like this recently.

Father charged in death of toddler appears in New Brunswick court

MONCTON, N.B. - A New Brunswick man whose toddler died after she allegedly ingested methadone has appeared in court on charges related to her death.

Anthony Linfield of Havelock faces charges of manslaughter, criminal negligence causing death and failing to provide the necessities of life.

He was charged after his 23-month-old daughter, Dakota, died Jan. 13 in a Halifax hospital.

The little girl had allegedly ingested methadone days earlier at the family's home.

Linfield asked for more time to apply for legal aid during a brief court appearance today in Moncton.

The 25-year-old is due back in court for election and plea on July 2.
