Dad charged with child abuse, domestic assault; "slammed" baby in crib (Monterey, Tennessee)

Seems to me that ERIC PRESTON FOSTER is just an all-round no-goodnick. Once he's drunk and in a pissy mood, he terrorizes everybody in the home. Of particular concern is this "baby slamming" incident, which could turn out to have serious medical consequences. Is it any surprise, that this guy is a fugitive for Indiana, and already has a criminal record and a probation violation? Thank goodness he's being held without bond.

MONTEREY -- A father who allegedly came home drunk over the weekend was arrested for allegedly picking up his baby's crib and "slamming it down" with the infant in it, according to police.

Eric Preston Foster, 42, of East Louis Avenue, is charged with child abuse and domestic assault and is also accused of being a fugitive from another state, say warrants taken by Monterey Police Officer Jerry Clark.

The officer said he was called to the Foster home on a report of a disturbance and found that Foster had allegedly arrived home drunk and struck his wife and "threw a glass at her which cut her when it broke," one warrant says.

"The victim further advised that (Foster) broke the kitchen table and chairs and broke jars and threw food around the residence," the warrant says.

Clark said he also determined through investigation that Foster had thrown "some glass" at a crib where his 1-year-old child was sleeping, then "went into the room and picked up the crib and slammed it down while the child was in the crib," according to one warrant.

As the disturbance occurred, Foster's other children, ages 10, 5, and 3, were also in the home, the warrant says.

The officer also discovered that Foster is wanted for violation of probation in Jay County, Indiana, and authorities there said they would extradite him on that charge.

He was booked into the Putnam jail around 6 a.m. Sunday and is being held without bond on the fugitive charge. He has an April 18 court date here.
