Dad takes 2-year-old hostage in police standoff; battered mom, 12-year-old daughter escape (Clarksville, Tennessee)

More Daddy Drama with KARL BANKS, including the police standoff, physical assault, 2-year-old child taken hostage (and not cared for during that time)....

Is it any big surprise this dad already had a criminal record? I'm just glad this idiot didn't kill the baby. Lots of these idiots do kill the kids in these situations.

In fact, Daddy Dearest has already threatened murder. What will it take to take this guy out of circulation before he DOES kill somebody?

Domestic barricade-hostage situation places man in custody
Turner McCullough, Jr. | June 25, 2011

A domestic assault situation results in one man in police custody.

On June 24, 2011, around 1:42 am, 911 received a frantic call from a juvenile at 106 Hickory Trace about a domestic situation in which the parents were fighting. The juvenile stated that the father is hitting the mother and was going to kill them.

When officers arrived a 30-year old woman and her 12-year old daughter had fled from the residence and the woman had injuries to her face. Police were told that a 2-year old male, was still inside with the suspect, Karl Banks. Additionally, it was determined the two-year old was a child that Banks and his girlfriend, the 30-year old domestic victim had in common.

Officers repeatedly beat on the door trying to contact with Banks, but there was no response from inside. The building was surrounded and Crisis Negotiators and the Tactical Unit were called the scene. Officers continued their efforts to contact Banks, but to no avail.

Crisis Negotiator Detective Demone Chestnut discusses the situation with Tactical team members
Once the Negotiators arrived they resumed efforts to contact Banks while the Tactical Unit developed a course of action in the eventuality that Banks would not come out voluntarily. At this point, since Banks never responded, Police were not positive that Banks or the two year child were still inside the residence. A decision was made for CPD’s Tactical Unit, with assistance from the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Bomb Squad personnel and their robot, to make entrance into the lower level of the apartment.

A little after 5:15 am, the Tactical Unit entered the lower level, immediately saw the two year old and took him to a safe area. Banks was not found in the lower level. The Tactical Unit moved to the upper level of the apartment, deployed a chemical irritant in the hallway, forced open a bedroom door and used a distraction device (commonly referred to a flashbang) prior to entering the room, and were able to take Banks into custody without harm. Banks was taken in custody around 6:27am.

KARL BRANDOM BANKS (B/M, DOB: 3/18/81, Given Address: 106 Hickory Trace, Clarksville, TN) was charged with DOMESTIC ASSAULT and had a CONTEMPT warrant on file. The Bond for the Domestic Assault was $500 and the Contempt, $5400= Total Bond: $5900.

Banks has an extensive criminal history involving violence and is currently on Probation for two counts of aggravated assaults.
