"Frustrated" dad accused of abusing 2-month-old daughter (Phoenix, Arizona)

My guess: Dad MATTHEW FLORES wasn't treating his 2-month-old daughter for constipation. He didn't accidentally get "too hard" with her. Looks to me like he was mad at the baby's mom, and took it out on the baby. Great way to punish mom and show her that Daddy's Not Happy, too.

PHOENIX - A 27-year-old Phoenix father has been arrested for child abuse after admitting he was "frustrated that the baby wouldn't stop crying."

Matthew Flores has been charged with 3 counts of child abuse after numerous bruises were found on his 2-month-old daughter.

The infant was taken to Phoenix Children's Hospital with bruises on her legs, hands, side and back.

According to court documents, Flores told the detective he was sorry for the injuries to his daughter. He said he "made a mistake and would not do it again."

Flores went on to say he was tired, frustrated, and fighting with the baby's mother, and inadvertently caused the baby's bruising.

He said he was pumping the baby's legs to relieve her constipation, and would give her stomach massages to help relieve her gas, and may have done it too hard, documents allege.

The detective wrote -- "he said something could have 'busted inside of her' and she could have passed away and he would be facing murder charges."

The baby was released after internal injuries were ruled out. She had been born 11 weeks premature, which means this incident occurred less than a week after she was scheduled to be delivered.
