FLINT, Michigan -- The case against a Flint father accused in the death of his 6-month-old son was bound over to circuit court last week, court records show.

Lensley E. Martin II, 18, is charged with open murder, first-degree murder and child abuse in the death of Lensley E. Martin III.

Martin III died Sept. 29, 2011, shortly after his skull and ribs were fractured, according to police. Authorities say the child died from blunt force trauma to the head.

Police were called to a home on W. Cass Avenue near Summit in Mt. Morris Township the morning of Sept. 29 for a baby that was not breathing. Police found the baby blue in color, township police Detective Diana Mills testified in Genesee District Court. The baby was pronounced dead at a local hospital.

Martin II told police that he was the only one home alone with the child at the house from 8 a.m. until about 10:40 a.m. on Sept. 29, Mills said.

Martin II was found competent to stand trial after he was sent for a forensic evaluation.

He is currently being held in the Genesee County Jail without bond. Martin II will be be arraigned in Genesee Circuit Court March 19.
