MIAMI (WSVN) -- A South Florida father accused of leaving his now 4-year-old daughter home alone with weapons and a grenade has been arrested and charged with child neglect.

Authorities arrested 25-year-old Luis Bianchi on Thursday. He is being held on $5,000 bond.

"What were the circumstances of leaving this child with such an arsenal at her hands?" said Miami Police Detective Willie Moreno.

Neighbors called 911 after they spotted the little girl wandering the hallways outside of her apartment on 922 Southwest Third St. in Little Havana, Wednesday afternoon.

When police arrived on the scene they called out for an adult several times. When they did not received an answer, they entered the apartment. "We didn't find any adults, any other human being inside, but what we did find was one grenade, several assault riffles and an arsenal of ammunition," said Moreno.

Police called the bomb squad to the scene and all residents in the building were evacuated. The grenade was removed and rendered safe. The weapons and ammo were also removed.

According to an arrest affidavit, Bianchi admitted leaving his daughter home alone but said her mother was on the way to pick her up. He also said his weapons were secured and away from the reach of his daughter.

The child, who turned 4 years old today, is in the custody of the Department of Children and Families. A dependency hearing is scheduled for 1:30 p.m.

Her grandfather said he was shocked that his son would do such a thing. "He has a license to carry guns. He has a security license ... I just don't believe it," said the grandfather through a translator.

Police are glad the little girl was unharmed because the guns were in clear reach.
