ORANGEBURG COUNTY, SC — Orangeburg County Sheriff’s deputies are looking for a man wanted for child abuse.

Michael Anthony McClellan, 24, is wanted on charges of Children/Legal custodian, unlawful neglect of child or helpless person.

“Officers were called to the Regional Medical Center around 10:45 a.m. March 25 because a two-year-old had been injured, Orangeburg County Sheriff Leroy Ravenell said. “The initial investigation indicated a two-year-old and four-year-old were jumping on a bed when the two-year-old was injured.”

However, the investigators later determined McClellan threw the child resulting in a leg fracture, Sheriff Ravenell said.

Ravenell said the victim’s four-year-old sister told officers McClellan, who is the father of the two-year-old, threw the child.

“Any adult that can use enough strength on a helpless child to damage a bone should not be hiding out from law enforcement,” Ravenell said. “To the family members and friends who are helping him allude authorities, assisting a fugitive is a criminal act too.”

Anyone with information is asked to call Crimestoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC.
