Father arrested after allegedly assaulting 6-month-old son

RICHLAND COUNTY, SC (WIS) - Deputies have taken a Richland County man into custody regarding a domestic situation that occurred on Tuesday.

Authorities say they found the man assaulting his 6-month-old son when they arrived. Deputies, according to Sgt. Curtis Wilson of the Richland County Sheriff's Department, tried to subdue the man, but the father resisted arrest.

The father, who has not yet been identified, has been charged with criminal domestic violence of a high and aggravated nature and simple possession of marijuana.

The child did suffer injuries to the upper body, but is recovering. Deputies also noted that the man's wife also did not suffer any significant injuries. Wilson stated that the father and the child were both taken to receive medical attention.
