NY father, 19, charged with shaking 3-month-old baby and causing serious injuries

QUEENSBURY, New York — Sheriff's officials in upstate New York say a 3-month-old baby is hospitalized with serious injuries and the child's teenage father has been charged with assault.

The Warren County Sheriff's Office says the baby was brought to Glens Falls Medical Center on Jan. 29 and then transferred to Albany Medical Center.

The sheriff's office says the child's injuries are consistent with having been shaken.

The baby's father, 19-year-old Dillin M. Nelson Sr., of Queensbury, was arrested Friday.

Nelson was arraigned Saturday on a charge of second-degree assault.

He was ordered held on $75,000 bail.

The sheriff's office says Nelson confessed to injuring the child on several occasions in December and January.

The baby remains hospitalized in serious condition.

No information on a lawyer for Nelson was available.
