Dad arrested for burning 2-year-old son with cigaretes (Harris County, Texas)

Is UNNAMED DAD a single father? Notice that there is no mention of a mother in the home, no one who is charged with failure to protect. Also notice that it was the grandmother was the one who called in the wellness check.

What happened to Mom?

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas - A 2-year-old boy is in the hospital after Precinct 1 deputy constables found cigarette burns on the child's body.

Investigators were called out the the Villages of Inwood Apartments in the 5700 block of West Mount Houston Tuesday for a welfare check at the request of the boy's grandmother.

Deputy constables arrested the boy's father for outstanding warrants, but believe he is responsible for the child's injuries.

Investigators say the child had multiple cigarette burns on his torso and chin. They rushed him to Texas Children's Hospital.

Neighbors say three children lived in the home and the family moved in just a few months ago.

They say the father worked as the apartment maintenance man.

Residents said they were disturbed by the allegations.

"That's people that shouldn't have kids at all," said neighbor Jessica Ventura.

Precinct 1 Constable Alan Rosen said the father could be charged with child abuse once doctors complete their examination of the boy.
